Yankees Prospect Jasson Dominguez to Undergo Tommy John Surgery
Jasson Dominguez, the promising, young star of the New York Yankees received sobering news Sunday that he has a torn UCL in his throwing arm, which will require surgery.
The 20-year-old will miss a large chunk of next season according to manager Aaron Boone, a setback for a player who has been touted as one of the top prospects in the Yankees system.
Dominguez starred with the Double-A Somerset Patriots for parts of the last two seasons and was a major contributor to the Patriots Double-A championship in 2022.

He may very well need Tommy John surgery, though position players can often return within six months of surgery. Dominguez shouldn't miss much time next season.
After getting called up to Triple-A in August, Dominguez was promoted to the Major Leagues on September 1. He quickly made an impact. In eight games he hit .258 with four home runs and seven RBI.
Said manager Aaron Boone upon asked about the injury, “Crushed for him/ At the same time, he’s a young man and these things resolve themselves, so it’s a moment in time in the grand scheme of things in what we feel like has a chance to be a long, excellent career. So, it’s about taking care of it now.”

Dominguez told reporters he felt pain around September 3 in Houston, but couldn’t pinpoint what play the injury happened. Unlike pitchers, who require sometimes a year-and-a-half to heel from Tommy John Surgery, position players can return in nine to ten months. That means Dominguez could be eligible to return to baseball activities by late Summer in 2024.
Yankees Outlast Brewers in 13
The news overshadowed a thrilling 4-3 win over Milwaukee in 13 innings on Sunday, where the Yankees scored all four runs in extra innings.
Giancarlo Stanton tied the game at three in the 12th inning with a two-run homer. Kyle Higashioka won it with a RBI double to left in the 13th inning.
The victory halted a 10-inning no-hitter tossed by the Brewers. Milwaukee starter Corbin Burns held the Yankees hitless through eight innings; he walked two and struck out seven. The Yankees didn’t register a hit until Oswaldo Cabrea’s double-scored Anthony Volpe in the 11th inning.
