Perhaps the New York Liberty won't be the only team to hoist a title in town this year?

The New York Red Bulls punched their tickets to the MLS Cup with a 1-0 victory over Orlando City FC. The victory marks the second-ever trip to the Cup for the Red Bulls in franchise history. They will face the LA Galaxy in the MLS Championship on Saturday, December 7.

The closest the Red Bulls ever came to winning it all was in 2008, but that club fell to the Columbus Crew.

Andres Reyes scored the lone goal for the Red Bulls in the 47th minute of Saturday's contest and held on from there.

The 2024 Red Bulls are the first seventh seed to play for the Championship, and fthe irst team since the 1998 Chicago Fire to win three straight playoff games on the road, per ESPN.

The club formally known as the MetroStars when they began play in 1996 has never won a MLS Cup. They watched as NYCFC won it all just three seasons ago. And Red Bulls fans have been waiting for this moment for a very long time.

Should the New York Red Bulls win the MLS Cup, they will get away from the fact they are the only professional sports team in the New York Tri-State area without a title. The New York Liberty were the most recent team to get off that bubble when the 2024 squad captured the franchise's first-ever WNBA title in October.
