Volpe Two-Run Homer Caps Off Wild Weekend in Hollywood
Aaron Boone has had it up to here with umpires, Aaron Judge crashed through the out field wall and Nestor Cortes hit the IL. Those were just some of the headlines from a wild weekend out in Los Angeles as the Yankees won two of three against the Dodgers. In short it was a wild series that had just about everything. On Sunday, the Yankees took the series thanks to a go-ahead RBI groundout by Oswaldo Cabrera and a two-run jack from Anthony Volpe to put the 4-1 victory on ice for Bronx Bombers. It was a huge victory, as it kept New York within striking distance of Tampa Bay and Baltimore, and came with Aaron Judge out of the lineup to nurse a foot injury after he crashed through the right field wall in Saturday's 6-3 Yankees victory. https://twitter.com/JakeMontgomery_/status/1665171234315804673?s=20 Angry Aaron Boone In addition, Manager Aaron Boone continues his warpath against Major League umpires. In the sixth inning of Sunday's game, James Outman appeared to have swung at strike three, but the third base umpire said Outman checked his swing. Boone was visibly upset. https://twitter.com/BryanHoch/status/1665518414960656384?s=20 And he didn't stop there. https://twitter.com/mike_daddino/status/1665520927730282497?s=20 Boone was not tossed, but he does lead the Major's in ejections with four, and according to ESPN has been tossed 30 times since becoming manager back in 2018. One could say Boone's a modern day Lou Pinella. https://twitter.com/TalkinYanks/status/1661886042083938304?s=20 NESTOR CORTES HURT On a more serious note, the Yankees did announce that Nestor Cortes is likely hitting the Injury List with a shoulder issue. Cortes says he's not overally concerned, but the issue has bothered him for a "few starts." Cortes is 5-2 with a 5.16 ERA this season. https://twitter.com/YESNetwork/status/1665543539412078592?s=20 [select-listicle listicle_id="83117" syndication_name="spider-man-across-the-spider-verse-a-beautiful-web-of-destiny" description="yes"]
