Aaron Rodgers To Make New York Jets Debut Against Giants on Saturday
Aaron Rodgers will finally suit up and play in a preseason game for the New York Jets.
The announcement came Sunday morning following the Jets’ 13-6 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at MetLife Stadium. The news also adds some spice to the annual MetLife Bowl between the Jets and New York Giants.
Rodgers hasn’t played in a preseason game since 2018 with Green Bay. It’s very rare that starters play in the final preseason game, but with the regular season beckoning in the not-to-distant future, coupled with Rodgers playing on a new team, the four-time MVP will be out there.
It is not known if the Giants will counter with their starters, or how long Daniel Jones will play (if at all in this one).

The Jets have had concerns about their offensive line for weeks. Rodgers even told reporters that he didn’t feel there was a set starting five on the line at the moment. Perhaps this is the Jets’ best, and obviously, last opportunity to find that right mix before the season begins on September 11 against the blitz-happy Buffalo Bills.
” I don’t think we’re at that point yet because I don’t think there are five guys that have earned those spots.”
The Jets haven’t seen Duane Brown, Alijah Vera-Tucker, or Lakin Tomlinson play or practice much at all this summer. The Jets did get some happy returns on the play of Mekhi Becton, who was phenomenal at right tackle in the Buccaneers game.
Robert Saleh Rips O.L.
New York’s offensive line has come under plenty of scrutiny and was the subject of an expletive-filled tirade by Head Coach Robert Saleh in a segment of Hard Knocks.
Who else will play?
Will the Jets also play wide receiver Garrett Wilson? Dalvin Cook? Breece Hall is probably a few weeks away from his recovery from ACL surgery from participating in game action. It will be interesting to see whom the Jets put out there with Rodgers against Big Blue.
When pressed about it on Monday, Giants Head Coach Brian Daboll said the Jets decision to start Rodgers has no impact on what he might do on Saturday.
