Francisco Lindor Sends Mets to Thrilling Victory Over Cleveland
The magic is back in Citi Field.
The New York Mets completed another wild, magical come-from-behind victory that quiet possibly topped their brilliant comeback against Tampa Bay the other night, when they edged out the Cleveland Guardians 10-9 in ten innings on Friday.
And the Mets can thank the kids.
Brett Baty, Mark Vientos, and Francisco Alvarez combined for five hits, two homers and three RBI in the Mets thrilling victory.
In fact Alvarez got the ball rolling for New York when he crushed a solo home run to left to slice the Guardians lead down to 5-1.

Next, Baty hit a bomb that cut Cleveland lead down to 5-3.
After the Gurdians tacked on a pair of runs in the top of the seventh on Josh Naylor’s two-run single, Pete Alonso stepped up to the plate for the Mets in the bottom of the seventh and delivered again. This time with the bases loaded.
Alonso crushed a grand slam into the bullpens in right that almost tore down Citi Field.

To extras we went, and of course the Guardians re-took the lead 9-7 on a Gabriel Arias two run single. Then the Mets went to work in the bottom half of the inning. Vientos drove in Baty on a sharp single to center.
Next, Alvarez lined a base hit to left, scoring Eudardo Escobar. Alvarez walked into second base pumping his fists in the air as the Mets had tied the game again.

Finally, Francisco Lindor — who had to hear all kinds of criticism about his leadership and play so far this year — won the game against his old team with a base hit up the middle.

The celebration was on as Lindor jumped into the air, and was mobbed by his teammates down the first base line. What a comeback. The Cardiac Mets do it again.
