Aaron Judge Needs to Wake Up to Save Yankees in Fall Classic
The New York Yankees and their fans have been handed two heart-crushing losses to begin the World Series, will fans’ hearts be saved, or will they continue to be crushed?
Aaron Judge is letting every single Yankees fan down with his continued struggles throughout the postseason, the “captain” always seems to fall short when it matters most.
There is always hope for a rewritten narrative, and every fan who cheers the Yankees is hoping for it, but he is running out of time.
Aaron Judge has had multiple chances to solidify himself as an all-time Yankee great and during the regular season he has capitalized, but to become Yankee royalty you have to win championships and perform when it matters, as of right now it just seems like he can’t do that.
People remember moments, not seasons.
If Judge can find a way to get his moment tonight, and, if the Yankees find a way to come back and win this series, everyone will forget just how bad he was during the postseason. If he can’t, he will have a hard time gaining any trust from fans back no matter how good he is in the summer months.
Judge will have his chance tonight, as the Yankees face an ever-important Game 3, down 2-0 in the series. Gleyber Torres and Juan Soto have been setting the table nicely for Judge he just hasn’t been able to eat. The judge will certainly risk facing the ‘boo birds’ if he does not come through.
Judge has to get the Yankees going tonight in the first inning and start hitting like a real baseball player. If he can do that, the Yankees have a shot at becoming World Champs.
FIELDING TROUBLES
The Yankees have had their struggles in the field, and it ultimately led to them losing game one in dramatic fashion. The Dodgers scored two runs, on what should have been two errors by the Yankees, but when an outfielder plays a ball poorly, they don’t receive an error for it.
Yankee superstar Juan Soto miss played a ball in right field during the 5th inning allowing Kike Hernández to get to third on a triple, which ultimately led to a Will Smith sacrifice fly.
This wasn’t the only major blunder in the field by the Yankees, when again in the 8th inning Soto threw an Ohtani double off the wall in, Torres failed to field it, and everyone else failed to back up the throw, allowing Ohtani to advance to third base and score on a Mookie Betts sacrifice fly.
The Yankees are a very flawed fundamental baseball team so this shouldn’t surprise anyone, but if they want to get on the right side of history, they better clean it up and fast.
Tonight, the Yankees are throwing Clarke Schmidt up against Dodgers pitcher Walker Buehler in this ever-important game 3. If the Yankees fail to win tonight their season will basically be over, making them fall short of their 28th World Series Title yet again. If the Bronx Bombers can win, they are set up nicely to potentially win all three games in New York. The Dodgers have a bullpen game tomorrow which could lead to a lot of runs for the Yankees, and then the Yankees will throw ace Gerrit Cole in game 5 if there is one. Win tonight, and anything can happen.
What are the keys for the Yankees to keep elimination off the menu? Aaron Judge must start hitting, they need five strong from Schmidt, and they need to play clean baseball. Will those three things happen, maybe and every Yankee fan out there is hoping for that memorable “moment” in October.
