New Jersey Wood Fired Pizza Restaurant Makes Yelp’s Top 100 Of 2024
It’s certainly not surprising that we love a great pizzeria here in New Jersey. What is surprising is that Yelp recently published their top 100 pizza restaurants of 2024, and one New Jersey pizza restaurant made the list. Coming in at number 87 was Razza Pizza Artigianale in Jersey City.
Yelp tapped into their greater community to dig deeper and identify some places making great pizza that residents need to know about. In this feature, they certainly cast a wide pizza net. Meaning, toppings are considered as well as styles. You will find traditional, deep dish, square pie, Detroit style, and everything else possible named here.
Overall, our neighbors in New York and California were the pizza champions of the country. Collectively, these two states take up 20% of the list. However, Pequod’s in Chicago took home the number one ranking. Another fun fact is that pepperoni is the most popular topping. In addition, numerous square-style pies have been on the rise. “Other square-pan pizzas, like thick, chewy Sicilian or grandma-style—which is thicker than Neapolitan or New York-style pizza, but thinner than Sicilian or Detroit-style—are quickly gaining nationwide popularity, too,” Yelp explained.
Razza – The Only Pizza In New Jersey To Make The Yelp Best Of 2024 List
Overall, the tri-state area came out looking pretty good here, with a total of 14 pizza spots on the list. There are some head-scratchers, however. While Modern in New Haven was named, Sally’s, Frank Pepe’s, Colony Grill in Connecticut were not. However, Mystic Pizza came in at number 85. As for the pride of pie in the Garden State, it does contain some deep local roots. Better known as just “Razza,” this establishment is owned by the head chef, Dan Richer, who is from New Jersey. Furthermore, Richer is a Rutgers graduate.
The menu at Razza stays in the pizza lane. Meaning there are 17 different options here. This includes everything from a potato pie to a yellow margherita. Only small plates accompany pizza on the menu at Razza. They are located at 275-277 Grove Street in Jersey City, and are open for dinner Tuesday through Sunday.
