Yankees Pull to Within 3 Games of the World Series
The New York Yankees have inched to within three games of the World Series, and after last night’s performance, it feels like Luke Weaver might just be the best closer left in the playoffs. The Yankees may have struck gold, at least for this postseason with Luke Weaver being virtually unhittable since he became the Yankees closer in mid-September. He has played a major role in the team being where they are right now, with him converting multiple four to five-out save opportunities with ease.
On top of Luke Weaver being this newfound gem for the Yankees, Giancarlo Stanton has continued to produce for the Yankees when the calendar turns to October and has helped carry this team to where they are right now. Stanton is hitting .368 with 2 homers, and 5 RBIs in 5 post season games this year. Stanton historically has been really good for the Yankees in the playoffs so this should not come as a surprise.
Juan Soto has also swung a hot bat as of late in the playoffs, he and Gleyber Torres have been setting the table nicely for Aaron Judge and Austin Wells, they have just not yet to come through for the team. For the Yankees to win the World Series that is going to have to change.
Game two of the series lines up tonight with Yankee ace Gerrit Cole on the mound facing off against the Cleveland Guardians ace Tanner Bibee. The Yankees will look to take a stronghold of the series tonight in what should be considered a must-win for the Bronx Bombers with three games in Cleveland on tap following this game tonight.
Aaron Judge must start coming through for the Yankees or otherwise, they will have a hard time keeping up with either NL champion, should the Yankees make it to the World Series.
