New York Jets to Unveil “New” Uniforms on Monday
The New York Jets are set to unveil “new” uniforms on Monday, April 15, in a highly anticipated move that will return Gang Green to their 80’s throwbacks, while there are also hints that another uniform set could also make its return as well.
The Jets are one of four teams who will be rolling out new threads for the 2024 season. The Denver Broncos, Detroit Lions, and Houston Texans are also rolling out new uniforms in the coming weeks.
It’s no secret that the Jets are going to go back to their 80’s look full-time. It was hinted as much by the team moments following the conclusion of the Super Bowl just two months ago.
The Jets wore their road white version of this uniform twice last year at home against the Buffalo Bills on Opening night, and against the Kansas City Chiefs on October 1 last year.
The green helmet shell stays with the old streaking Jets logo back across each side of the helmet. The uniform returns to a simpler concept of bold numerals and two parallel stripes across the shoulders.
The Jets will likely unveil a “home green” and an alternate “all-black” concept. The black concept was not popular with the previous uniforms, it will be interesting if the Jets kick up the aesthetic this time.
Then this nugget dropped this week that the NFL will allow teams to showcase a third helmet in their uniform arsenal. This won’t take effect league wide until 2025, but for the teams that change their uniforms this season, they can do this now if they so wish. That could indicate the New York Jets might return to their classic uniforms in an alternate form.

This would be a welcome return. Many fans wish they never left that uniform to begin with when the Jets made their uniform change in 2019. The Jets wore the classics for most of their franchise’s history from 1963-1977, better known as the Namath era, and again from 1998-2018.
The Jets could also roll with the New York Titans throwbacks, which are deep navy helmets with no logo. The Jets wore that look on occasion from 2007 – 2010.
We will know Monday if the Jets are adding another set to the 80’s throwbacks. The good news is the uniform the Jets wore from 2019 through last season is history.
And if the classic Namath/Curtis Martin era uniforms come back for a third iteration, the Jets would bring the house down.
