New York Mets Prospect Blade Tidwell Tames Patriots Thunder
Do the Mets have a future ace coming up through the system?
On a sun-splashed afternoon at TD Bank Ballpark in Somerset, New Jersey, the Amazin’s top pitching prospect Blade Tidwell put on a show for spectators, holding down a good Somerset Patriots lineup over seven innings in a 4-2 win for Binghamton.
Tidwell struck out seven batters over seven innings of work, allowing only a pair of solo home runs, one by Anthony Seigler, the other from Josh Breaux.

In between, Tidwell flustered the Patriots, holding Somerset to six hits overall. Yankees top prospect Jasson Dominguez went 2-for-4 against Tidwell, including a double.
When push came to shove, Tidwell found ways to get out of trouble, and the Patriots were willing to help.
In the bottom of the third inning, Max Burt was thrown out at second base while trying to steal with two out.

Fast forward to the bottom of the fifth inning, and following Breaux’s homer, Tidwell got the strike-out/throw-out double-play to kill Somerset’s rally when he struck out Max Burt, while Jesus Bastidas was thrown out at second base by catcher Hayden Senger.
Ponies Power
Meanwhile, Binghamton built its lead on the power of a pair of two-run homers.

The first homer came off the bat of second baseman Jeremiah Jackson in the top of the fourth inning to give the Rumble Ponies a 2-0 lead.
Mateo Gil launched his second Double-A homer to left-center, handing Binghamton a 4-1 lead.
Ninth Inning Drama
Come to the ninth inning, Somerset tried once more to put together a rally. The Patriots loaded the bases against Binghamton closer Trey McLoughlin, who struggled with his command; he had walked two in this frame.
With Max Burt looking for a little redemption, the Patriots’ third baseman lined into a 4-4-3 game-ending double-play.
