Beeter Scoreless Innings Streak Hits 12 as Patriots Down Sea Dogs

Clayton Beeter remains red hot as he puts opposing hitters on ice. The New York Yankees pitching prospect continued his brilliant stretch on the mound in the month of May twirling five shutout innings of the Portland Sea Dogs in a 4-2 victory on Wednesday. That gives Beeter 12 consecutive shutout innings dating back to his final two innings against Reading on May 19 in Somerset 4-3 win. https://twitter.com/SOMPatriots/status/1663931799909588993?s=20 It wasn't easy for Beeter, who threw 93 pitches over 5.1 innings of work. He scattered five hits and walked four, but found ways to get out of trouble. The Sea Dogs left 13 men on base and were 1-for-14 with runners in scoring position. Meanwhile Jession Rosario provided the early thunder when he slapped a two-run homer to right to give the Patriots an early 2-0 lead for his sixth home run of the year. https://twitter.com/SOMPatriots/status/1663946075927990272?s=20 Mickey Gasper also homered in the bottom of the fifth for his first home run of the season. T.J. Rumfeld had a sac fly RBI. The victory moves Somerset to 26-20, but they still trail Portland by 4.5 games in the Eastern Division standings as the calendar turns toward June. The series continues Thursday night at 6:30 from TD Bank Ballpark. [select-gallery gallery_id="77679" syndication_name="guardians-vol-3-red-carpet" description="yes"]
