Luis Severino was happy to be back on the mound.
“I just wanted to leave the way I came: healthy,” Severino said following his outing with the Patriots on Tuesday against the Reading Fightin’ Phils, a game the Patriots won 14-10.
Severino gave up only two runs on six hits over 3.1 innings of work. He threw 58 pitches, and told reporters afterwards that he felt good. The next question is how much longer will he need to rehab before re-joining the Yankees rotation?
Severino has yet to pitch in the Major’s this season.

“I am really excited to get back and help my team up there. You want to be out there competing. The important thing is to be healthy and be back out there,” Severino added.
As for the game itself, it was a wild one. Four Somerset hitters finished with multi-hit performances. Austin Wells led the charge with three hits and four RBI, including a home run in the fifth.
“I really like him,” Severino said of Wells. “He’s really good behind the plate.”
