Pair of Rutgers Swimmers to Compete in US Nationals
Rutgers’ swimmers Rachel Kimmel, a graduate student, and senior Savana Trueb will be taking part in separate events over the next couple of weeks at the US Nationals.
According to scarletknights.com, ” Kimmel will be swimming at the Phillips 77 National Championships at the end of July at the William Woolett Jr. Aquatics Center in Irvine, California while rising senior diver Savana Trueb will also be in action taking to the boards at the U.S. Open Championships presented by Rocket Fizz at COM Aquatics in Midland, Texas on August 4-7.”
Kimmel, a recent graduate of St. Bonaventure,won the 100 breast at the North Baltimore Aquatic Club (NBAC) Mid-Summer Classic to qualify for nationals. Her performance of 1:10.36 broke the 17-year-old pool record held by six-time Olympian, former 100-meter breast world record-holder and Freehold native Rebecca Soni.
Trueb qualified for the NCAA Championships on 1M, 3M and platform this past season. She was also the runner-up on platform at the NCAA Zone A Championships, as well as a finalist on 1M and 3M.
The stage is set for two Scarlet Knights at Nationals
