‘Escape From Tarkov’ Receives In Game Wipe and Releases New Features
The well known first person shooter game Escape from Tarkov, had their annual in game wipe this past weekend. Meaning all players are starting off with the gear they had from the start of the game. However, that wasn’t the only thing to come with the patch as a new map named Lighthouse was released. Fans of the player verse player game were excited to say the least, flooding the servers in an attempt to get ahead in gear and levels. Battlestate Games, the developer behind Escape From Tarkov, released this trailer a day before the patch.

This teased new weapons that would be available for players thus changing the esport games meta. Alongside the new mechanic of daily quests for players to receive to earn more experience points and rewards. Another new game feature is the in-game voice chat. Which allows players to talk to each other. The community is mixed about this as yes it has allowed players who aren’t on the same team to talk and negotiate with each other with some even having friendly interactions. However, it also allows some players who are looking to troll say what could be seen as offensive language especially to those who are streaming on popular platforms like Twitch. A perfect example would be the 3-time Escape From Tarkov world champion Pestily, who tweeted about his opinion of the in-game voice feature.
My 2 involvements of VOIP so far have been nothing but banter and laughs. Can't stop smiling! I'm so excited for the next few months!

Though with a new patch comes new errors and issues as Battlestate Games announced several errors and glitches that are being worked on. One being an auditory glitch that causes players to hear high pitched noise at certain moments of gameplay. The team said they are hard at work to give players the best experience possible and thank them for their contribution. Escape From Tarkov, jumped up to 8th place in Twitch’s December rankings for most viewers and hours watched. Though it will most likely settle there as Fortnite and Minecraft hold the number 7th and 6th spot respectively. What other new changes are the developers planning? The fanbase will be keeping their eye out as the new year comes closer.
