Rutgers women's basketball took a tough loss down the road in Princeton on Wednesday, falling 66-55 to the Tigers. The loss drops Rutgers back under .500 at 6-7. Princeton improves to 8-3 on the year.

Kassandra Brown and Kaylene Smikle each scored 14 points for Rutgers in defeat, while Kaitlyn Chen led all scorers for Princeton with 19 points.

The Scarlet Knights found themselves down 13-0 in the opening quarter as Rutgers hurt itself offensively with six turnovers in the early stages.

Brown eventually ended the scoring drought with a jumper of her own at the 5:39 mark of the first quarter. Unfortunately could never really set its feet, struggling on both sides of the floor as Princeton raced out to a 22-point lead by the 2:36 mark of the second quarter when Chen drained a pair of free throws.

Rutgers finished the night shooting 37 percent from the floor, compared to the 45 percent shooting from the floor by Princeton. The Tigers also outscored Rutgers 32-18 in points in the paint. Princeton also scored 26 points off Rutgers turnovers.

Rutgers will host #16 Virginia Tech on Sunday night at 5:30 from Jersey Mike's Arena.
