Brown Hits 1,000th Career Point as Rutgers Tops La Sale
Kassandra Brown enjoyed a record setting night, and the Scarlet Knights had their best scoring output of the season in a 98-67 victory over La Sale on Tuesday at Jersey Mike’s Arena.
Brown, a graduate student, notched her 1,000 career point when she connected on a layup at the 7:02 mark in the fourth quarter. Brown finished the night with a season best 12 points and six boards in the win.
“It means the world to me,” said Brown. “Especially the love that I got from my teammates. It was a surreal experience, thinking about the work I put in and how long I have been doing this means a lot to me. Everyone did a great job of making me feel special and making me feel loved.”
Brown’s record setting night served as the keynote to an incredible night offensively for the Scarlet Knights. Six players finished the night in double-figures, with Kaylene Smikle finishing with 21 points and 11 boards. Destiny Adams notched 17 points and 10 boards. Freshman Jillian Huerter contributed 16 points. Lisa Thompson had a 11 points, and Erica Lafayette finished with 10 points.
The last time Rutgers scored 90+ points in a game, you’d have to go back to December 20, 2020 when Rutgers dropped 99 points on SHU in a 99-30 victory. It was also the highest point total scored in a game thus far by Rutgers in the Coquese Washington era.
