Rutgers Field Hockey Falls to Harvard in NCAA Tournament
An outstanding 2023 season for Rutgers field hockey has come to a conclusion Friday afternoon in a 2-1 loss to Harvard in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Marique Diuedonne scored the lone goal for the Scarlet Knights in the 56th minute of the contest with assists from Lucy Bannatyne.
The game remained scoreless until the second quarter when Harvard’s Bronte-May Brough connected on a duel assist for her sixth goal of the year to make it 1-0.
Emily Guckian was credited with her ninth goal of the year for Harvard early in the fourth quarter to give the Crimson a 2-0 advantage.

Rutgers defense limited Harvard’s opportunities, holding the Ivy League school to only six shots on goal for the entire game.
On the flip side, RU had plenty of shots. 16 shots to be exact, including seven on goal, but were denied by goalie Tessa Shahbo who was credited with six saves.
Rutgers completes the season with 16 victories, the second most in program history. This was RU’s third tournament appearance in the last six years.
