The Double-A affiliate of the Somerset Patriots continue to rake at the plate, recording three home runs as a team in a 5-4 win over the Altoona Curve in Bridgewater, Wednesday night.
T.J. Rumfield, Austin Wells and Trey Sweeney all went deep for the Patriots in the victory. The 10-plus hits recorded by Somerset on Wednesday was the fifth time the club has done so in the last seven outings.
Rumfield’s opposite field homer in the fifth, extended the Patriots lead to 3-0. Sweeney followed with a solo blast of his own to put the Patriots up 4-0.
Finally Austin Wells provided the game winner when he corked a solo shot to put the Patriots on top 5-4. The evening marked Wells’ third three-hit game of the season, the most of any Patriot. Wells also extended his on-base streak to a season-high 10 games.
Meanwhile, Yankees outfielder Harrison Bader completed his rehab assignment in Somerset, playing seven innings and going 0-for-4 at the dish. Bader will re-join the Bronx Bombers in Boston on Friday night.
