Rutgers Allison Lowery Named Player of the Week

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has named Rutgers junior forward Allison Lowrey the Offensive Player of the Week for the period ending Aug. 21.

The Bridgewater, N.J. native leads the Big Ten and ranks eighth in the country through two matches with six points on two goals and two assists. Lowrey scored a game-winner in the 22nd minute, the lone goal in the 1-0 victory at Mountain West favorites New Mexico to open the season on Thursday. She then assisted the first two goals against UNLV to give Rutgers a 2-0 lead in the opening 19 minutes before scoring another in the 5-1 victory on Sunday. Lowrey’s four points against UNLV set a new career high for the junior striker. The UNLV contest was also her second career match with multiple assists. Her 3.0 points per match ranks 14th across the nation, while her two goals come in at 15th in the nation. Lowrey and the Scarlet Knights will play their third consecutive match away from home to start a season for the first time since 2001 when Rutgers visits Providence on Thurs., Aug. 25 at 6 p.m.
