New York Jets Fans Express Frustration Over Zach Wilson
EAST RUTHERFORD, NEW JERSEY - SEPTEMBER 24: Zach Wilson #2 of the New York Jets is hit by Anfernee Jennings #33 of the New England Patriots during the second half at MetLife Stadium on September 24, 2023 in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Jets fans are historically an ornery lot. But, on Sunday as Gang Green slipped and slid to a 15-10 loss to the New England Patriots, the world was on fire for Jets fans.
Why? Because quarterback Zach Wilson again struggled under center. It has been three years and the results are very much the same. Happy feet in the pocket. Zeroing in on one target downfield. Holding the ball too long. The offensive line breaks down, and either a turnover happens or a dreary incompletion follows.
While Wilson didn’t turn the football over, he was ineffective in completing 18 of 36 passes for 157 yards. He was sacked three times, including a safety. He even infamously sacked himself at one point when he collapsed to the ground when nobody touched him.
WILSON’S TEAMMATES:
Jets fans weren’t the only ones losing their minds. Wilson’s teammates were losing their cool too. Wide receiver Garrett Wilson was seen screaming at Wilson on the sideline while running back Michael Carter was yelling at his position coach.
JOE NAMATH SOUNDS OFF:
Even Jets legend Joe Namath had enough of Wilson’s on-field inconsistency. The Super Bowl III MVP criticized Wilson’s play numerous times on X and even questioned the job status of Head Coach Robert Saleh and GM Joe Douglas.
ANGRY FANS
Fans who bought tickets to the game, and sat in the downpour of tropical storm Ophelia as it slammed New Jersey were visibly frustrated. Many sat in their seats stone-faced, others were seen screaming like one old gentleman who lost his dentures in the process.
To make matters worse, when pressed by the media after the game, Head Coach Robert Saleh said the Jets plan to stick with Wilson. Moreover there were reports earlier Sunday via FOX Sports insider Jay Glazer that quarterback Matt Ryan and Carson Wentz contacted the Jets with interest in joining the team. The Jets declined their offers.
Yup, it sucks to be a Jets fan.

I’ve been going to Jets games since 1987. And I can tell you back then you were lucky to get a Jets t-shirt at the local sporting goods store or Kmart. Nowadays though, you can rock hundreds of pieces of Gang Green swag. From tees and jerseys to hoodies and parkas. Heck, you don’t even have to get dressed, really. A nice set of Jets jammies and slippers work fine on an early-season jaunt to Met Life Stadium. You just have to have the confidence to wear them, well, and the Jets game day gear!
Confidence is what it’s all about when it comes to the 2023 New York Jets and their fans. I don’t know if you’ve heard, but the team has added a fellow by the name of Aaron Rodgers to the squad. Yeah! THE AARON RODGERS! Meanwhile, Aaron has coerced some of his old Green Bay Packer teammates to join him in the Meadowlands this season. Couple that with the outstanding young talent the Jets already had on both offense and defense and the whole Tri-State area is buzzing with confidence that this will be the year the Jets finally make it back to the big game.
So what kind of Jets fan would you be if you didn’t support the team the best way you can? By looking fly, lit, fire, or whatever hip adjective you want to use, on game day! In the car, in the parking lot, in your seat, or even in the stadium bathroom, you have to rep this year more than ever!
Furthermore, it’s not just about looking good, it’s about having the right gear for the situation. You have to know your surroundings. You may have a nice mane of hair and only need a ball cap on those chilly days, but your buddy with the bad genes and bald head may need that extra Jets scull cap you brought! From bottle openers to ladies’ bags to Cornhole, this year it’s all about rockin’ it for the J-E-T-S, JETS JETS JETS! Grab your Jets game-day gear below.
