Anthony Rizzo Concussion Is Latest Cruel Twist for Yankees
Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo heads to the Injury List with post-concussion syndrum, for an injury he sustained months ago when he collided at first base with Fernando Tatis Jr. of the San Diego Padres.
For those who don’t recall, Rizzo was trying to make a swipe tag on Tatis at first base when the two All-Stars got tangled up and Tatis’ hip slammed against Rizzo’s shoulder and head. Rizzo had to leave that game, but passed all tests at the time.

According to reports, Rizzo expressed recently to the Yankees that he was feeling “foggy.”
“They said it could be a week, it could be two weeks. They don’t know. But for me, I think it takes all the stress out of wondering now. Now you know there’s a treatment plan,” Rizzo said.
The news adds to what has been a stressful week for the Yankees. It started with a very quiet trade deadline where the Bombers didn’t do much to improve the team’s chances of making the playoffs.
DOMINGO GERMAN CONTROVERSY
It got worse when word came out Wednesday and Thursday that Domingo German would be leaving the team to enter rehab for alcoholism.
According to reports, German became “belligerent” in the clubhouse and was not in control of his actions.
The Wall Street Journal reported that German flipped over tables, destroyed a television set, and was seen yelling at manager Aaron Boone.

Boone has not commented on the matter.
The altercation came just a couple days after a bizarre situation where German was cleared of armpit discomfort, but did not start against Tampa Bay on Monday. Hours later, he came in relief in the fifth inning and tossed five shutout innings.
Ironically, German will best be remembered for throwing a perfect game on June 28 in Oakland.
