We are about five days away from the Fourth of July, and the Somerset Patriots, the Double-Affiliate of the New York Yankees were in the mood for some early fireworks.
The Patriots pounded five home runs in a thunderous 11-3 victory over the Bowie Baysox on Thursday night.

Richard Fits got the victory, tossing 5.1 innings, allowing three runs, all solo homers, with six strikeouts. Even with the victory, Fitts’ streak of six straight quality starts came to an end, when he was removed from the game with one out in the sixth inning. The quality start streak is the longest by any pitcher in Minor League Baseball in 2023.
The Patriots and Baysox continue their series tonight from Maryland.
