Rangers Fall to Hurricanes in Overtime
HURRICANES 2 – RANGERS 1 – OT
For a better part of Wednesday’s Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals, the New York Rangers had enjoyed a 1-0 lead. As is the case in hockey, prosperity can disappear very quickly and suddenly. With 2:23 to go in the game, Seth Jarvis took a pass near the circle from Teuvo Teravainen, kicked it back up front to Sebastian Aho who punched it past Igor Shesterkin to tie the game at one.

In the overtime, it took less than four minutes for the Hurricanes to find paydirt when Ian Cole took a backwards shot at the goal and slipped it in to give the Canes a 2-1 victory.

It didn’t help matters that of the 28 shots the Rangers took in the game, only nine shots came in the third period, and one came in overtime. Chris Kreider had only one shot; Artemi Panarin and Mika Zibanejad had two shots a piece. None of them scored for New York.
The Rangers and Hurricanes square off again on Friday night in Charlotte.
