Knicks Fans Wait on Jalen Bruson Knee Status
Knicks fans are holding their collective breath Monday as they await official word on whether guard Jalen Brunson will play Tuesday night when New York hosts the Atlanta Hawks at the Garden.
Brunson bruised his knee in the opening minute of the Knicks 107-98 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday night.
“It’s a knee contusion, everything was negative, so we’ll see where he is (today),” head coach Tom Thibedeau said in his post game press conference.
Losing Bruson for any period of time would be bad for New York. He has been the heart and soul of the team, leading the team in scoring with 27.2 points per game, and assists with 6.6 per game.
As the play happened it appeared that Bruson bumped knees with fellow Knick Isaiah Hartenstein. Somehow the Knicks, who have been snake bit by injuries since the calendar turned to 2024, found a way to outlast Cleveland on Sunday night. It was a gritty effort.
Donte DiVincenzo picked up the slack at guard, scoring 28 points. Josh Hart enjoyed a triple double with 13 points, 19 boards and 10 assists. Bojan Bogdanovich contributed 20 points off the bench.
Should the Knicks be without Bruson on Tuesday, they will do so with Julius Randle (shoulder), Mitchell Robinson (ankle) and OG Anunoby (elbow) all out with injures. All three of those players are expected back soon.
