Knicks Glide To Seventh Straight Win

Even with O.G. Anunoby riding the bench with an elbow injury, and with Julius Randel out with a dislocated right shoulder, the Knicks keep plugging along. New York won its seventh straight, Monday night — a dominant 113-92 performance over the Charlotte Hornets.
Clinging to a three-point lead heading into the third quarter, New York exploded with a 44-point quarter to blow the game wide open. The impressive showing was keyed by a 14-0 run. Isiah Hartenstein drilled a couple of shots, while Jalen Brunson nailed a critical three-pointer, and later came back to make three consecutive free throws after a flagrant foul was called on Charlotte.
By the final buzzer, New York had once again shot over 50 percent from the floor, 52 percent to be exact. Brunson led all scorers with 32 points, while Donte DiVincenzo notched 28 points, including shooting 5-of-15 from downtown.
“It’s definitely a plus when you can win on the road no matter who is on the court,” Brunson said.
The Knicks ‘ game-winning streak is their longest such streak this season. Last season the Knicks had winning streaks of eight games and nine games en route to a 47-win season.
Obviously, this team has its sights set on higher goals.
BEN SIMMONS RETURN SPARKS NETS
Ben Simmons made his long-anticipated return to the Brooklyn Nets lineup on Monday. The All-Star had been slowed down by a back injury. On Monday, he posted a double-double with 10 points, 11 assists, and eight rebounds in Brooklyn’s 147-114 thumping of the Utah Jazz.
Brooklyn has now won two in a row.
Meanwhile, Cam Thomas and Mikhal Bridges went off for Brooklyn. Bridges led all scorers with 33 points, while Thomas was right behind him with 25 points of his own. All of that contributed to Brooklyn putting up its highest-scoring night since November 22, when they lost a 147-145 heartbreaker to Atlanta.
NEXT UP?
The Nets will face the Suns on Wednesday, while the Knicks take on the Pacers on Thursday. Remember to catch Knicks basketball right here on Fox Sports Radio New Jersey.
Celebrate Michael Jordan's Birthday With These Highlights
Michael Jordan celebrates his 61st birthday on February 17th.
Michael Jordan, one of the greatest basketball players of all time, was born on February 17, 1963, and turns 61 in 2024. Jordan has a decades long career that is marked with many records and milestones. An east coast athlete through and through Jordan was born in New York before relocating as a child to Wilmington, North Carolina.
Although we recognize Jordan as the GOAT today, his career did not start off on a high note. During his freshman year of high school, MJ was turned away from the basketball team. He was deemed “too short”, standing at 5’11”, a stark contrast to his current height of 6’6”. Determined to overcome this setback Jordan went on to become of the school’s best players, landing himself a basketball scholarship to the University of North Carolina.
At UNC Jordan started to become the player he is recognized as today. He won the 1982 NCAA Championship and is a NCAA All-American First Team member and won two players of the year awards. Eventually Jordan would return to finish his degree, but he left UNC a year early for the NBA draft, which saw him get drafted to the Chicago Bulls.
Despite a brief run with the Washington Wizards MJ spent most of his time with the Bulls. He is a six-time NBA champion, 14-time NBA all-star, two-time NBA Slam Dunk Contest winner and two-time Olympic gold medalist. Jordan finally retired for the second and final time in 2003. His career ended with his number 23, being retired at two teams. He is also recognized as the greatest player of all time, and one of the most successful businessmen to come out of the NBA with the ever-growing popular Air Jordan shoe line.
Off the court MJ has several notable achievements as well. After his first retirement from the NBA, he had a brief stint in baseball, signing a contract with the Chicago White Sox. Jordan was awarded a Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Obama and continues to be a prominent public figure to this day.
