Tommy DeVito Era Up in the Air After Christmas Day Benching
PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA - DECEMBER 25: Tommy DeVito #15 of the New York Giants passes the ball against Haason Reddick #7 of the Philadelphia Eagles during the second quarter at Lincoln Financial Field on December 25, 2023 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
And just like that the Tommy DeVito era might be put on ice.
Giants Head Coach Brian Daboll sacked the Jersey guy in the third quarter of the Giants 33-25 loss to the Philadelphia on Christmas Day. DeVito struggled to move the offense in the first half; the rookie finished 9-of-16 for 55 yards and a sack.
Daboll inserted back-up quarterback Tyrod Taylor who sparked the Giants offense and nearly led Big Blue to a shocking come-from-behind victory.
“I felt we needed to do something to try and spark us,” Daboll said. The Giants coach won’t commit to a starting quarterback for Sunday’s game against the LA Rams.
While Taylor did give the offense a jolt, a lot can be attributed to the fact the Eagles collapsed.
Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts threw a pick-six that Giants safety Adoree Jackson brought back 64 yards for a touchdown to cut the Eagles lead to 20-18.
In the fourth quarter with the Giants down 15, Talyor launched a bomb down the left sideline that Darius Slayton caught and scored on to cut the deficit to 33-25.
Taylor had the Giants on the hunt for the game winning score, but his pass in the end zone for Saquon Barkley was picked off with four seconds to go.
End of the Road for DeVito?
It’s been a wild ride with DeVito the past several weeks. After leading a comeback win over Green Bay in mid-December, his star took off. People loved the local angle of a Jersey kid, living in his parents basement who happens to quarterback the New York Giants. Autograph signings, endorsements deals starting going through the roof as everyone seemed to want in on the DeVito’s New Jersey story.
There was even controversy over a canceled autograph signing at a Morristown, New Jersey pizzeria, an issue that has since been cleared up by both sides.
Now the rookie faces the harsh reality of the NFL business.
Will DeVito start again for Big Blue? That’s now in Brian Daboll’s hands.

I love a tidy home. When I walk into a house that has everything in its place, a sense of calm comes over me. That being said, I do not think it is natural to put everything in its place every time. I remember a priest once telling me that a messy home is a happy home. That gave me peace.
When I walk into my garage, or even my bedroom for that matter, I become overwhelmed with the piles of “things” that do not have a home. In a few days or weeks those piles become a little bit bigger and then a little bit bigger and eventually I realize I probably didn’t ever need what I put at the bottom of the pile because I have not been able to find it or never needed to look for it. That is why I like to use the box method of tidying. I do it once or twice a year, but should probably do it quarterly. Hey, I’m not perfect.
Simplify and Organize Your Life with the Box Method
I have done so much research into how to declutter and organize your home. The Box Method is what I find most useful and easiest to do. You lay out four boxes used to organize your “stuff” as you go through it. On one side of the room put your TRASH and SELL/DONATE boxes. On the other side of the room put your STORE and KEEP/PUT AWAY boxes.
TRASH and SELL/DONATE
- If you have not used an item or worn a piece of clothing in six months to a year, get rid of it. Would someone else like it? Then put it in the SELL/DONATE box. If its trash, then TRASH it.
STORE
- For all the items you cannot part with, will not part with, or are saving for a child or posterity, put them in storage. You will be happy to know you have them, but they will be tucked away in the attic, basement, or crawlspace and out of sight.
KEEP/PUT AWAY
- The items you actually use or wear, but seem to have migrated to an area they do not belong should be put away properly.
After dividing your things into the boxes: trash, donate, or sell. For the things you want to KEEP and PUT AWAY, the following gadgets will help you keep it all organized. Happy Shopping!
