With the World Series and 2023 baseball season now in the rearview mirror, the focus now turns to the Hot Stove season, and the ever present need for a new skipper for the New York Mets.
According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, former Brewers manager Craig Counsell is heading to New York to interview with the Mets for their managerial job.
If you read the following form Heyman it sounds like the Mets are the team to beat in the Counsell sweepstakes: “Sources told The Post recently that Counsell is “serious” about the Mets, as he and wife Michelle love New York, he is interested in raising the salary ceiling for Major League managers and has an excellent working relationship with (David) Stearns.”
Moreover, Andy Martino of SNY reports that the Mets and Counsel had a long telephone call that some sources “classified as an interview.”
OUTSIDE COMPETITION
This does not mean Counsell is a slam dunk. The Mets will have competition for him. The Cleveland Guardians interviewed Counsell earlier this week, and could be a fit. The Houston Astros are looking for a manager now that Dusty Baker retired.
Plus the Brewers could still come calling. Counsell is a Milwaukee native, and has kids in schools around that area. He may want to stay close to home.
OTHER OPTIONS?
Should Counsell not chose the Mets, one name New York could pivot to is Yankees bench coach Carlos Mendoza. According to Martino: “One source called Mendoza a “finalist” with the Mets, but another source called that word too strong.”
Reports are Mendoza had a phone interview with the Mets, and received an in-person callback. So he is going to be involved.
Mendoza has been a Yankees assistant coach since 2018, and a member of the Yankees organization at the minor league level as a coach since 2009. He managed the Gulf Coast Yankees to a GCL Championship in 2011. In 2012 he managed the Charleston River Dogs and finished 76-63.

What goes around comes back around. That’s true with many things. It’s true with Karma, it always will come back around. It’s true with the earth, as it continues to rotate. Additionally, it’s true with fashion. Now, pins & patches are being launched back into pop culture.
Pins & patches became popular to put onto clothing back in the 1960s, after the Vietnam War. People would use them as a way to display their political or social affiliations. That fad stuck with the counterculture throughout the next couple of decades, and remained a fixture in rock and roll culture. Fans would wear patches and pins of their favorite bands to showcase their admiration for the music.
Today, it’s still common to see pins and patches used to show support of a band or specific show. It’s become a big thing in the festival world, as well. It’s not rare to see pins and patches on shirts, jean jackets, backpacks, or hats. There are now more options than ever for pins and patches. You still have them for bands, but there are also funny memes, sayings, and imagery that you can wear, as well.
Pins & Patches
Whether you’re a long-time collector, or someone looking to start a collection, finding the right patches or pins for you can prove to be a challenge. Patches and pins are like tattoos for many people. They’re deeply personal and reflect your unique personality. You can’t just slap any logo on your backpack without knowing what it is! You want it to be a loud statement of you! So, I’ve decided to make it easier for you by showing you some I’ve found that I love. Hopefully, you’ll like them, too. If not, maybe they’ll make you think of a pin or patch you’d like to find. Here’s a list I put together on Amazon. Check it out below!
