Rutgers Field Hockey off to Sizzling 3-0 Start
Rutgers field hockey is off to a blistering start to the 2023 season after it downed Cal 2-1 to improve to 3-0 in the young season. It is the second time in three years that Rutgers has opened the season at 3-0.
However, this start is extra impressive considering Rutgers swept three games out in California against UC Davis, Stanford, and Cal. The road trip isn’t even over, as the Scarlet Knights have four more road games coming up before hosting LeSale on September 17.
Game Recap:
Against Cal, Rutgers stormed back from an early 1-0 deficit, as Puck Winter and Guillermina Causarano scored for Rutgers. Winter’s goal came seven minutes into the contest, knotting the score at one. With the game deadlocked for the next two periods, Causarano took a kick-out save that rolled back to her, and slapped it into the back of the net for the 2-1 lead.

Men’s Soccer Home Opener
The defending Big Ten Champions made their return to Yurcak on Monday night and fought St. John’s to a two-all tie in front of a packed crowd for the home opener. Rutgers is now 0-1-1 on the season.
Curt Calov notched his first goal of the season on a penalty kick 10 minutes into the opening period to give RU a 1-0 lead.
