It’s the story of the off-season for the New York Giants.

Running back Saquon Barkley wants a new contract, and despite receiving the franchise tag that will pay him $10.1 million this season, the All Pro running back wants a long term commitment from Big Blue.

As a result, he is holding out of mandator mini-camp until a deal is reached.

When pressed by reporters at the AMPT Football Camp he runs, Barkley paused incredulously, and didn’t sound too optimistic that a deal could get done by a July 17 deadline. Both sides agreed to to hammer out a deal hopefully by that date.

“I don’t know. I don’t know,” Barley told reporters.

“I think they’re open to talking. I’m open to talking. I think at the end of the day, if you really break it down and look at it as a whole, there is no rush. There is still time on the table to get to July 17.”

Barkley’s hold out is now the story of camp, as both players and coaches have had to answer questions about it.

“I am going to let Saquon speak for himself on that,” quarterback Daniel Jones said.

Added Head Coach Brian Daboll in his pre-minicamp press conference: ““Everything that I have to say about Saquon will be in private,” Daboll said. When pressed about the deadline, Daboll reiterated multiple times he is worried only about “today.”

Sterling Sheperd was emotional about it. “I can’t envision him in another jersey. That’s my best friend. Obviously I want him here. But you gotta figure things that are best for you and for your family.”

Training camp begins in late July for Big Blue.

Dad Jokes. Some people say it like it’s a bad thing, but is it? The hardest part of hating on Dad Jokes is not TELLING A DAD JOKE. You heard me. I’ll try to poo-poo on the cringe dad jokes, but eventually, I laugh and end up telling one. I took some significant time to shortlist the worst / best Dad Joke shirts the internet has to offer. Scroll down to peruse and be amazed (or disgusted).

What Are The “Best” Dad Jokes?

That depends on what you find funny. What I love most about a “good” dad joke is that it works for the whole family. The younger ones aren’t left out. Even if you have to explain the dad joke, it still creates conversation and encourages a sense of humor. I’m in. Here are a few dad jokes to bolster your arsenal, dads:

  • “I’m afraid for the calendar. Its days are numbered.”
  • “What did the zero say to the eight?” “That belt looks good on you.”
  • “I don’t trust those trees. They seem kind of shady.”
  • “I was addicted to the hokey pokey…but I turned myself around.”
  • “Why didn’t Han Solo enjoy his steak dinner? It was Chewie.”

You are welcome.  Much like dead batteries, there’s no charge.
