Somerset Patriots first baseman Brandon Lockridge enjoyed a huge night at the plate, and helped to propel Somerset to a 7-5 victory over Hartford on Thursday.

Lockridge went 3-for-5 with three doubles and three RBI in the win. His second RBI double in the seventh inning put the Patriots in front 6-5. He added the insurance run an inning later with a RBI double in the eighth.

Lockridge is hitting .313 with two homer and 16 RBI on the season.

All the runs went to the advantage of starting pitcher Blane Abate who recorded a career high 11 strikeouts over 6.2 innings of work.

Max Burt also crushed a three-run homer in the top of the first inning to get things started for Somerset.

The Patriots and Yard Goats continue their series tonight in Connecticut at 7 p.m.

Somerset Patriots 25 Years at TD Bank Ballpark

The Somerset Patriots, the Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, commemorated 25 years at TD Bank Ballpark with a stirring ceremony that welcomed back distinguished guests to the ballpark. Included were Bridgewater mayor Matthew Monech, Somerset County Commissinor Shanel Robinson, as well as Patriots co-chairmen Jonathan and Joshua Kalafer, Manager Emeritus Sparky Lyle, and General Manager Patrick McVerry.

Michael began his career as a news and sportswriter with the Jersey Journal of Hudson County.
