Trey Sweeney remains red hot with the bat, blasting a solo home run in the sixth inning, and driving in four runners in a 9-1 Somerset Patriots victory over Portland on Thursday.

The Patriots shortstop who was a Yankees first round draft pick in 2021, is hitting .275 on the year with a pair of homers and 12 RBI. In addition to the homer, Sweeney drove in a run on a bases loaded walk in the seventh inning; later he drove in a pair on a two-run single in the eighth.

All the runs went to the good of starter Will Warren who improved to 3-0 on the year. Warren blanked the SeaDogs over six innings, allowing only four hits and walking four. His ERA dipped to 2.45.

Overall the Jackals as a team drew 11 walks on the night, with T.J. Rumfield and Anthony Seigler each drawing three walks. Tyler Hardman also had an huge night recording three hits for Somerset.

The series continues tonight and this weekend up in Portland, Maine.
