The Somerset Patriots streak of hitting a homer in consecutive games came to a halt at 10 games, as the Portland Sea Dogs won going away 10-5 on Friday night in Maine.

Clayton Better got the start and struggled for Somerset, allowing six runs on six hits over two innings of work.

Before the Patriots could settle in, the Sea Dogs were using the long ball to stop Somerset. A two-run homer by Nathan Hickey was followed up by a solo shot by Stephen Scott to stake Portland to a 3-0 lead.

Somerset found itself down 6-0 before a RBI double by Austin Wells and a bases loaded walk to Mickey Gasper brought the Patriots to within four runs.

A two-run rally by Portland in the bottom half of the third using small ball put an end to the Patriots hopes of a comeback.

The Patriots and Sea Dogs continue their series tomorrow night at 6 p.m. Catch it here on Fox Sports New Jersey.
