It’s looking more and more likely that the inevitable is going to become a reality: Aaron Rodgers will play for the New York Jets this year.
According to multiple reports there is “optimism” that a deal between the Jets and Green Bay Packers is going to get reached.
In the wake of an extensive in-person meeting between Aaron Rodgers & New York Jets brass, including owner Woody Johnson, there's optimism in the Jets’ organization that they are on the brink of landing the future Hall of Fame QB, sources close to the situation tell ESPN.— Dianna Russini (@diannaESPN) March 9, 2023
According to Zach Rosenblat of the Athletic, the Jets would like to avoid paying the $59 million guaranteed money price tag on Rodgers contract and are working with the Packers to break that money up. Will a deal get done by Friday? We’ll see.
This is a key point on the Aaron Rodgers talks: I'd heard that Woody Johnson preferred not to pay the full $59.5 million owed to him, so will be interesting to see how much/if Packers are willing to eat of that to make a deal happen. https://t.co/3Ft0ieCzc4— Zack Rosenblatt (@ZackBlatt) March 9, 2023
