Rutgers vs Seton Hall Preview
The Rutgers women’s basketball team started off the Coquese Washington era the right way with a close 73-68 win over Hofstra. Awa Sidibe led the way with 16 points and nine rebounds.
Kai Carter helped with 16 points of her own. Erica Lafayette, Chyna Cornwell, and Abby Streeter all had 11 points apiece. Lafayette had a career-high in points as well as in rebounds (5) and assists (5). Streeter was 3-4 from the three-point range. The game was back and forth with nine lead changes, but the Scarlet Knights led the way most of the time (25:21). Rutgers dominated the paint 40-28 and was great in the fast break with a 26-8 advantage. All five starters scored in double figures.
Seton Hall blew out St. Peter’s Monday night 73-39. They were led by their center Sidney Cooks who posted 16 points and 16 rebounds, she added three blocks and three steals. The Pirates forced 27 turnovers and limited their opponents’ shooting to 27.6% from the floor. Their defense speaks volumes to hold their opponents to such a low percentage from the floor. The Pirates played 10 players last time out while the Scarlet Knights only played seven. Depending on how many players coach Washington plays Rutgers might have to play a slowed-down pace of basketball and try to be as efficient as they can.
Rutgers will host Seton Hall Friday night at Jersey Mike’s Arena at 7.
