Rutgers Men’s Soccer Secures Big Ten Tournament Home Game
Rutgers men’s soccer is on its way to the Big Ten Tournament after a 2-1 win over Penn State at University Park on Tuesday night, the program’s first win over Penn State since 2013.
Rutges (7-5-3) secured a home game in the Big Ten Tournament for only the second time in program history.
Underclassman Matthew Acosta and Ian Abbey each scored first half goals to send Rutgers to a 2-0 lead. Acosta’s score came in the 25th minute at the top of the circle on a feed from Jason Bouregy and Jackson Temple.

Later on in the 40th minute, Abbey nailed his third goal of the year when he worked around three defenders to slap the ball on a dart past Penn State goalie Kris Shakes to make it 2-0.

Goalie Ciaran Dalton did a tremendous job in net for Rutgers recording seven saves in 90 minutes of play.
Rutgers will close out the regular season on October 29 against UCLA at Yurcak Field in Piscataway.
