Lockridge and Chaparro Power Patriots to Fifth Straight ‘W’

Hartford, Connecticut – The Somerset Patriots (81-48) won their fifth straight game vs. the Hartford Yard Goats (72-58) by a score of 8-6 on Saturday night, powered by a pair of two-home run games from both Brandon Lockridge and Andres Chaparro.
Lockridge (13) and Chaparro (16) became the fifth and sixth Patriots to accomplish the feat this year, joining Mickey Gasper, Max Burt, Everson Pereira and Blake Perkins (who did it three times including in Hartford).
Somerset took the game’s initial lead as part of a four-run third inning that started with a two-run double for Austin Wells. The inning was capped with the first of Andres Chaparro’s two two-run home runs.
Brandon Lockridge led off the fourth inning with the first of his two homers to give the Patriots a game-high 5-0 lead.

Hartford chipped away at Somerset’s lead, scoring in three straight innings and getting to within one run by the end of the sixth inning.
Chaparro’s second two-run home run brought home the game’s decisive runs in the fifth inning, putting the Patriots up 7-5.
Kaleb Cowart (2-0) earned the win, pitching a scoreless seventh inning. Nelvin Correa pitched a scoreless eighth to earn a hold, while Steven Jennings earned his fourth save of the year, locking down a scoreless ninth inning.
Somerset’s fifth straight win over Hartford solidifies the Patriots’ third win streak this season of five or more games, as they go for their first six-game sweep of the year on Sunday.
The Patriots are now a season-best 33 games over .500 with the best record in all of Double-A baseball at 81-48.
The 2022 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue with their final road game of the regular season taking place on Sunday afternoon in Hartford with a 1:05 p.m. first pitch at Dunkin Donuts Park.
Yankees top pitching prospect RHP Will Warren will get the start for Somerset opposite Yard Goats RHP Tony Locey. The Yankees are scheduling to have four players join the Patriots on Sunday for Major League rehab assignments, including LHP Aroldis Chapman, LHP Zack Britton, RHP Miguel Castro and OF Harrison Bader.
