Included in Volpe’s two home runs during the double header, he went deep on the first pitch of the second game, for his team-leading 15th homer of the season.
Austin Wells’ homer in the first game served as his third straight game with a home run, the second time in his career that he’s accomplished the feat. Wells also hit a double in the second game to extend his hit streak to 12 straight games, the longest of his career and tied for the longest of any Patriot this season (Volpe).
On the pitching end, relievers Steven Jennings and Aaron McGarity each picked up wins in relief for Somerset. The Patriots pitching staff only ceded four hits in each end of the double header.
For McGarity, the Richmond, VA native earned his first Double-A win in his hometown with 2.1 perfect innings in what was his Double-A debut.
