Rutgers Softball Drops two-of-three to Purdue
The Rutgers Softball team faces what is likely a decisive regular season series finale next weekend against Michigan State, as it tires to find a way into the Big Ten Tournament. The Scarlet Knights fell to Purdue 8-2 on Sunday, as the Boilermakers took two of three from Rutgers.
Rutgers is now 25-28 on the season, 3-17 in Big Ten action.
Rutgers fell behind early when Rachel Becker cracked a lead-off home run in the bottom of the first inning, and Jade Moy followed with a solo homerun of her own to put Purdue up 2-0.
The Boilermakers later scratched out four more runs in the bottom of the second inning to extend their lead to 6-0. Alex Echazarreta had the back-breaker with a three-run double with two out in the inning.
