Bridgewater, NJ – Three Somerset Patriots (11-7) home runs led to a dominating 15-3 win over the Portland Sea Dogs (10-8) at TD Bank Ballpark on Thursday night.  

The offense was led by Chad Bell’s 4-for-4 performance with a home run and three RBI. Anthony Volpe and Derek Dietrich each drove in four runs on the night.

Tyler Dearden brought home the first three runs of the night for the Sea Dogs on a three-run home run (1) in the top of the fourth.  

Volpe got the Patriots on the board in the bottom of the fifth on a sacrifice fly before Brandon Lockridge (2) launched a three-run homer to take the lead.

Volpe struck again in the seventh with a bases clearing triple to give the Patriots a 7-3 lead. Volpe posted his second multi-hit performance in as many games and tied a season-high RBI in a single-game with four.  

The Patriots then exploded for an eight-run eighth inning, as Michael Beltre began the scoring with an RBI single and was later followed by a Bell (1) three-run home run and

a Dietrich (2) grand slam.  

Barrett Loseke (3-0) earned the win, collecting five strikeouts with two earned runs allowed.  Randy Vasquez pitched 3.1 innings and allowed an earned run while striking out six batters in a no decision.

The Patriots bullpen threw 5.2 scoreless frames in relief and struck out five Sea Dogs. Somerset relievers have conceded just two runs in the last four games.  

Victor Santos (2-2) took the loss after six innings and gave up four earned runs to go along with four strikeouts.  

The 2022 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue at home on Friday, April 29 with a 6:35 pm game against the Sea Dogs at TD Bank Ballpark.
