Rutgers Softball Snaps Slump, Tops Penn State
After weeks of tough breaks, the Rutgers Softball team finally broke through and won a ball game. Led by home runs from Payton Lincavage and Kayla Bock, the Scarlet Knights beat back Penn State 3-1, snapping a 14-game losing streak that dated back to April 1. The victory was only the second win in conference this season for Rutgers.
Lincavage’s solo shot to right field got the party started for RU in the bottom of the first inning. An inning later, it was Bock, who crushed a pitch down the right field line for a two-run homer to give Rutgers a 3-0 lead.

Meanwhile this day was all about today domination on the mound from Ashley Hitchcock. Hitchcock twirled a gem, allowing only a run on four hits over seven innings. She walked one and struck out one. Hitchock was even helped out a bit by right fielder Gabrielle Callaway, who continues to flex a great glove in right.
