Yardgoats Carry No-Hit Bid vs. Patriots into Eighth Inning
Hartford, Connecticut –The Hartford Yard Goats (5-5) defeated the Somerset Patriots (6-4) 4-0 at Dunkin’ Donuts Park on Tuesday evening.
Hartford starter Karl Kauffmann and reliever Riely Pint combined to kept the Patriots out of the hit column into the eighth inning when Jeisson Rosario broke through with a line drive single to center.
A bases clearing double by Michael Toglia in the first put the Yard Goats up 3-0. Brenton Doyle added a sacrifice fly in the sixth for the 4-0 final.
Karl Kauffmann (1-0) picked up the win after he struck out nine batters over six scoreless and hitless innings. Jhony Brito (0-1) suffered the loss, as he allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits and five strikeouts in 4.1 innings pitched.
