Rutgers Softball Drops Seventh in a Row, Falls to Seton Hall
SETON HALL 5 – RUTGERS 3
Rutgers softball lost it’s seventh straight game Tuesday, falling to intrastate rival Seton Hall 5-3 in Piscataway.
The Pirates used a four-run fifth inning to propel themselves to victory over the Scarlet Knights. A two-run single by Jenna Blevins put Seton Hall up 3-2. Olivia Gilbert quickly followed with an RBI single to make it 4-2. The Pirates added an insurance run on a wild pitch.
Rutgers had taken a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning when Maddie Lawson (2-for-3, RBI) reached on a fielder’s choice via a bunt single attempt, scoring Payton Lincavage, who came in on the squeeze play. Gabrielle Callaway also scored for RU when the ball skipped away.

Jaden Vickers got the start for Rutgers, giving up only a run on four hits over two innings. Ashley Hitchcock was charged with the loss, allowing four runs over 2-2/3 innings of work.
Rutgers (23-19, 1-8) looks to turn things back around quickly, and end their skid when they host Illinois over the weekend.
