Rutgers Softball Swept by Nebraska
For the first time this year, Rutgers softball finds itself in a slump. The Scarlet Knights were swept by Nebraska over the weekend, culminating in a 9-0 loss on Sunday. Rutgers has now lost five of its last six games, and stands at 23-15 on the year. Rutgers is now 1-5 against the Big Ten this season.
Rutgers managed only one hit on Sunday, a single by Leliani Chavez, as Nebraska’s Kaylin Kinney was brilliant over five shutout innings.
Ashley Hitchcock took the loss, Sunday, allowing five runs on five hits over two innings of work. She is 9-11 on the season.
Rutgers offensive struggles began on Saturday in a 2-1 loss to Nebraska. Rutgers trailed that game 2-0 before Maddie Lawson’s sac fly RBI in the fifth inning cut deficit in half. In the last 17 innings dating back to Friday afternoon’s 12-4 loss to Nebraska that kicked off the series, Rutgers has managed only two runs on 12 hits.

Rutgers will look to rebound on Friday when it begins a three-game series against Indiana, before returning home next week to face-off with Seton Hall.
