Rutgers Softball Drops Two Straight to Gophers
After earning their first ever win against Minnesota on Friday afternoon, Rutgers softball dropped the final two games of the series over the weekend, 11-7 on Saturday and 10-3 on Sunday. Rutgers stands at 1-2 in the Big Ten with a series at Nebraska coming up next weekend.
On Saturday, Rutgers fell behind 11-2 before a three-run homer by Kobie Hura, and a two-run shot by Taylor Fawcett brought Rutgers to within four runs, 11-7, by games end.
Hura’s solid weekend at the plate carried over into Sunday as she corked a solo home run in the fifth inning of Rutgers’ 10-3 loss to Minnesota. Hura went 2-for-4 with a pair of homers and four RBI for the weekend.

Gabrielle Callaway continued her hot stretch at the plate, collecting three hits and a pair of RBIs. In fact she gave Rutgers the early 1-0 lead in each contest over the weekend.

Rutgers (22-12) will host Monmouth on Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action, before embarking on that trip to Nebraska. In fact, the Scarlet Knights will play the next two weekends on the road in the Big Ten with a trip to face the Indiana Hoosiers scheduled for April 8-10.
