Rutgers Softball Keeps Momentum Going, Tops Drexel 4-3

The good vibes just keep coming for Rutgers Softball. The women came back to defeat Drexel 4-3 in nine innings on Sunday to improve their overall record to 21-10.
Kyleigh Sand capped off a spectacular weekend by driving in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth on a single to right. The game winning hit capped off a 3-for-5 afternoon for the sophomore. Over the six games played between Thursday and Sunday, Sand went 13-for-21 at the plate (.619), with 10 runs scored, eight RBI and a homer.
Sand currently leads the Scarlet Knights in hits (39) and runs scored (31).

In addition to Sand, Katie Wingert had a huge afternoon, going 2-for-3 with the a-go-ahead RBI in the fourth inning on sac fly that made it 2-1 Rutgers at the time, and she later scored the game winning run on Sand’s base hit.
Gabrielle Callaway and Kayla Bock also had RBI base hits in the win.
Meanwhile Jaden Vickers continued to dominate on the mound. The ace improved to 13-2 on the season, allowing three runs (one earned) over nine innings of action. She walked one and struck out seven. Vickers owns a 2.49 ERA this year with 115 strikeouts.
