Rutgers Women’s Basketball Thumps Minnesota with Offensive Outburst
RUTGERS 79 – MINNESOTA 61
Rutgers women’s basketball had its best offensive output of the season, dropping 79 points in a 18-point blowout victory at Minnesota on Thursday night. The victory was Rutgers’ second straight, and first road win of the season.
“I think we played with great place, great energy. Our players stayed focused the entire time. Because they stayed focus, we kept them off the boards and did a great job on the offensive board, and I am so proud of them, and happy for them that they are reaching the benefit’s of their hard work,” Acting Head Coach Timothy Eatman said.
Four players were in double figures for the Ladies. Leading the way was Lasha Petree, who posted 20 points and seven rebounds. Osh Brown notched her 10th double-double of the season with a 12-point/11-rebound performance. She leads all active NCAA players with 59 double-doubles in her illustrious career. Tyia Singleton contributed 12 points and Shug Dickson netted 10 points in the victory.
The turning point of the game came in the second quarter, as Rutgers outscored Minnesota 20-7, including pulling off a 14-0 run to take the lead for good. Dickson’s massive three-pointer with 4:58 to go in the second quarter gave Rutgers a 23-22 lead. They would never trail again the rest of the night.
