Rutgers Women’s Basketball Back on Track with Win over Penn State

It has been a while, but that winning feeling is back with Rutgers Women’s Basketball after the Scarlet Knights snapped a 10-game losing streak with a thunderous 71-62 win over Penn State at Jersey Mike’s Arena on Sunday afternoon.

The Scarlet Knights were powered by Osh Brown’s ninth double-double of the season as she snared 11 boards and scored 20 points in the victory. Brown led the charge to a 28-point fourth quarter for Rutgers, that included a 14-0 run in the final minute of play.
The 28 points scored by Rutgers in the fourth quarter was its most in the final period of a game all season, and its most in a fourth quarter since scoring 28 at Iowa on Dec. 31, 2020.
Rutgers run began with 2:28 to go in the fourth quarter when Brown connected on a layup to tie the game at 56. Her free throw gave the Scarlet Knights a one-point lead.
After a turnover by Penn State, Sayawni Lassiter hit a huge three-pointer to give Rutgers a four-point lead, 60-56.
Victoria Morris joined the action with a three pointer of her own, and later converted on a pair of free throws as Rutgers built a 65-56 lead with 0:38 to go.

Lassiter finished with 11 points on 3-of-6 shooting, while Morris contributed 12 points on 2-of-8 shooting from the field and 6-of-8 from the free throw line.
Lasha Petree also finished with 17 points on 5-of-8 shooting.
Rutgers(8-17, 1-12) will visit Minnesota on Thursday.
