Ex-Eagles Coach Doug Pederson Back in NFL with Jaguars
Well South Jersey/Philly fans, guess who’s back in the NFL? That’s right Super Bowl winning Head Coach Doug Pederson is back in the NFL, as the new Head Coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Pederson was named Jags coach late Thursday night ending one of the more bizarre coaching searches in the NFL this season. The former Philadelphia Eagles coach will be entrusted with turning around a Jaguars team that has been stuck in last place for several years, as well as grooming last year’s number 1 overall pick Trevor Lawrence.
In five seasons with the Eagles, Pederson went 42-37-1 with a victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII, the only Super Bowl title in Eagles history.
The hiring of Pederson comes 49 days after the dismissal of Urban Meyer, who was fired in his first season. In addition to losing 11 games, Meyer’s tenure in Jacksonville was marred by many gaffs including a incident at bar with a woman who was not his wife, and allegations that he kicked Jags kicker Josh Lambo. The Jaguars hiring/interview process took hits when former Jaguars quarterback-turned-Buccaneers Offensive Coordinator Byron Leftwitch interviewed for the job, but wanted to bring in Adrian Wilson of the Cardinals with him as his General Manager. The Jaguars balked, since Trent Baalke had the job, and owner Shad Kham wasn’t willing to remove him from his post.
Jaguars and Doug Pederson were connected at the start—and Jacksonville was seen as a likely landing spot then. Pederson's interest cooled a bit with the Jags sticking with Trent Baalke.

Will be interesting to see if Pederson gets someone like Rick Spielman to come with him. https://t.co/WJSTEVIvsQ
