NFL Coaching Carousel: Joe Judge Still Giants Coach … For Now
As of 12:25 p.m. on Monday January 10, Joe Judge is still the head coach of the New York Giants, and according to reports that are surfacing online, it looks like Judge could be safe to return for the 2022 season, despite a 10-23 record as Head Coach. That said, nothing is a certainty right now. Judge and Giants CEO and owner John Mara have yet to meet according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.
I'm told #Giants HC Joe Judge "is staying," per league source.

There is definitely uncertainty from those inside the building on what ownership will do with Joe Judge. So they wait. Giants have a team meeting at noon. Judge and players are expected to do some Zoom press conferences after.

Garafolo reported that Judge is meeting with players today, and that a meeting with ownership is pending. That said, Judge is proceeding as if he is going to be the Head Coach for the forseable future.
My understanding is Joe Judge has not yet met with #Giants ownership. So there are more discussions to be had. We'll continue to monitor and update. https://t.co/VVqG1LiEIe

The latest on #Giants coach Joe Judge, who is meeting with his players and coaches while the team hasn’t yet given an official indication of his status. pic.twitter.com/yFnqOy7BJi

One more on the #Giants and Joe Judge: This is reminiscent of the end of the 2006 season when Tom Coughlin’s fate wasn’t decided until he laid out for ownership a full plan for the future. It took three days before the team confirmed he was back. Also had a GM change then, too. pic.twitter.com/5xwg6gi0WI

While the Giants deliberate on what to do with their head coach, plenty of heads are rolling across the National Football League.
The Miami Dolphins shocked the world with the firing of Head Coach Brian Flores. In three years, Flores went 24-25 as head coach, and while he did start this season in a 1-7 hole, the Dolphins won eight of their last nine to finish above .500 at 9-8. The idea he was going to get fired regardless of Miami’s strong finish stunned many. However as has been reported by Jeff Darlington of NFL Network, there is a belief that Flores’ personality may have clashed with members of the front office.
The decision to fire Flores can be summed up with one word: Relationships. His relationship with Grier and Tua had deteriorated to a pretty bad place. Along with constant staff changes, owner Steve Ross no longer saw Flores as a healthy fit in Miami. https://t.co/9oRmk66hm9

Meanwhile the Vikings relived Mike Zimmer of his duties as head coach after eight years on the job. The Broncos fired Vic Fangio after three seasons, and the Chicago Bears officially parted ways with Matt Nagy, a firing that seemed imminent for months. So that means of the teams with vacant head coaching positions: the Jacksonville Jaguars, Minnesota Vikings, Chicago Bears, Denver Broncos and Miami Dolphins are all looking for new leaders.
The Las Vegas Raiders have been rumored to be looking for a new coach, but that could change if the Raiders win a game or two in the playoffs. Rich Bisaccia certainly could be in the running for to have the interim label removed after guiding the Raiders back to the postseason after the whole Jon Gruden email scandal.
