Nimmo & McNeil Hurt, Mets Shutout by Crew
The Mets six game winning streak came to an end Wednesday afternoon in a 6-0 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers, but there were more pressing issues at hand for New York, namely the health of center fielder Brandon Nimmo and infielder Jeff McNeil.

Nimmo left Wednesday’s game in the first inning after feeling tightness in his quadriceps. He told reporters afterward that he felt fine as the afternoon wore on, but left as a precaution. Jeff McNeil also banged up his wrist in a chain link fence.
Manager Buck Showalter said both players should be fine. Nimmo will go further testing Thursday.
Another aspect of Wednesday’s game that had to perturb Showalter was seeing Luis Guillorme get hit by a pitch. That makes the 106th time a Mets batter has been hit this year, a new MLB record for a single season.

Still it is a scare for the Mets, who can ill afford to have injuries at this juncture. They are still waiting for Starling Marte to return from the IL from a hand injury. An extended absence of Nimmo and McNeil would be dire.
Perhaps the best news of the day was the fact the Washington Nationals defeated the Atlanta Braves 3-2 to preserve the Mets narrow one-game lead in the NL East.
